Turvatikas Safety Ladder has obtained an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for its entire supply chain for its fall protection system, both for the Safety Ladder and the Vertical Profile B. The EPD provides verified data on the environmental impact of the product and its supply chain.
Third- party verified data on the environmental impact of a product benefits the manufacturer, customers and partners. EPD reports are based product on life cycle assessment EPD and follow the ISO 14025 standard, thus enabling the credibility, comparability, and objectivity of the reports. For many companies, the environmental impact of a product is one of the most important selection criteria in the product sourcing process.
Turvatikas Safety Ladder’s EPD provides information on the carbon emissions, energy consumption, and material distribution across the entire production chain throughout the lifecycle of the product. This in turn increases the transparency of the production chain for our customers. EPDs are valid for five years, making it easier to track how the choices we make today impact future reports.
As a manufacturer of steel products, we recognize our responsibility to the environment. Our aim is to be the most environmentally friendly alternative to fall protection. The acquisition of the EPD is one of the concrete steps of our journey towards a more sustainable production.
In addition, we are working closely with our steel producer, the Nordic SSAB, to follow the development of future carbon-free steel. In 2025, we will also certify and launch our products in weathering steel. The non-zinc coated steel option produces around 10% less carbon dioxide emissions compared to the hot-dip galvanised steel.
